My work expresses a reverence for nature and the sustenance it provides by referencing and appropriating antique china on which nature imagery is memorialized and thus preserved.
The many plates and bowls depicted conflate the concepts of sustenance provided by nature with the sustenance provided by human hands. Teapot imagery is common to my work as a universal symbol of hospitality, kindness and generosity. When seen from an aerial perspective, a teapot takes on a commanding presence, representing for me the human potential to sustain nature and life itself.
